Art is Free by aimeelikestotakepics Art is Free by aimeelikestotakepics
For a class project some classmates and I had to go downtown and discover art. We titled our project "Art is Free" because of this graffiti we found on a wall. I overlaid the graffiti over another image of a street musician I took earlier in the day.

Sorry I had to put a watermark on this, but I'm going to use this as the main piece in my college portfolio, so it's really important to keep it protected. I tried to put it in a place where it would be effective but hopefully not too distracting. Thanks!

Everything is so beautiful in this picture. The musician just act like he's totally enjoying the music he's playing. The graffiti (the message?) on the wall is subtle. And the framing is perfect that it just give a sense of the surroundings and not revealing too much that may distract.

Beside the excellent picture, I find it's interesting to start a topic about freedom and copyright. It's funny that this picture needed to be watermarked while it's about "art is free". While we appreciate the freedom to create art, we (the artists) also caution that the "art" needed to be "copyrighted". I see a interesting contradiction between these. And I think it can be an interesting issue to discuss.

You should SELL prints of this ... just as an extra detail, giving the slogan "Art is free" another meaning still.

I really like the piece. Art is free. We ought to remember than. =)

Ya, but significantly changing the picture, either through creating or inserting new forms, really qualifies the picture as "photomanipulation"... and I would say this is qualified ;)

Then I'd put it under photography > darkroom, but that's just me :p

I guess I can see how it coulda been done in the darkroom... two frames in the enlarger, I s';pose.

I wouldn't say so, it's just a small piece, something that could easily be done in a darkroom. I consulted a few people on the matter and they say it should be under photography, I've submitted stuff that was more manipulated than this before XD
